What is carbon reduction and carbon offset?
A. Carbon (dioxide) (or CO2) is the main gas produced in the burning of fossil fuels. This, and other gasses known as greenhouse gasses, are important factors in climate change. Carbon reduction is finding ways to reduce energy consumption and or the amount of gasses released. Carbon offsets are financial instruments that give a value to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Offsets are typically generated from emissions-reducing projects, such as renewable energy. TICOS operates within the Voluntary Emissions Reduction (VER) market.
