What is Candida Albicans or YEAST?
Candida albicans, commonly called yeast, is naturally found in the gut or intestinal tract of healthy people and animals. It occurs normally in your bodys mucous membranes and is kept in balance by beneficial or friendly bacteria. When the normal ratio of yeast to friendly bacteria in the colon is disrupted, Candida albicans begins to grow. It can change pathologically from a single cell to a branching fungal form which can multiply rapidly. It uses root-like tentacles to perforate the intestinal wall, damaging cells. Eventually the organism may pass through the intestinal wall and enter the bloodstream and lymphatics and can then travel to other parts of the body. It is surrounded by a connective tissue shell which protects it from the immune system. Researchers have found 17 variations of yeast which allow it to elude the immune system and to resist anti-fungal medications. Candida is not a disease, but rather a condition of internal imbalance that is reaching epidemic proportions. C
