What is Cameco doing to comply with IFRS?
Cameco’s target date for meeting IFRS requirements is January 1, 2011, and preparations for this changeover are virtually complete. We have undertaken a project to assess the potential impacts of the transition to IFRS and have established a project team to plan for and achieve a smooth transition to IFRS. The project team has developed a detailed project plan to ensure compliance with the new standards. Our implementation project consists of three principal phases: Phase 1: Preliminary study and diagnostic — complete During this phase, we: • completed a high-level impact assessment • prioritized areas to evaluate in phase 2 • developed a detailed plan for convergence and implementation • determined which information technology systems need to be modified to meet IFRS reporting requirements. We tested and implemented systems modifications by June 30, 2009.
