What is California Healthy Families Program (HFP)?
California Healthy Families Program (www.HealthyFamilies.ca.gov) is a low cost insurance for children and teens, who do not have insurance or do not quality for no-cost Medi-Cal. It offers comprehensive health, dental and vision care coverage through selected insurance plans. And you only need to pay a co-payment of $5 – $15 at the time of services for children’s benefits. How to apply: First, go to www.healthyfamilies.ca.gov to see if your children are qualified for the program. If yes, download an application and fill out it. Then mail your completed form to the address provided. Second, visit the website or call 1-800-880-5305 to check your application status often. You will receive a receipt of an application in 7 business day. Within 20 days from the receipt of the application, you will learn whether you are approved.
