This is especially true in the E-economy, where business management has even less understanding of what is going on. You Can’t Manage What You Can’t Measure! If a financial audit discovered a flaw or lack of controls in cash processing, it is an auditor’s responsibility to identify it and review it with top management. In the E-economy, IT budgets continue to grow, independent of Risk or Proof of Value requirements. Therefore, it seems to me that auditors and IT have the responsibility to identify this and offer an independent service to help manage it. I call it Business Management Advocacy.
