what is business coaching and is it similar to consulting?
There is a difference between coaching and consulting. While your biz coach generally has business expertise and experience, it is not his/her job to tell you what to do. The belief is that YOU are the expert and your coach is your partner in brainstorming, building confidence, accountability, helping you to see the big picture, guiding you away from mistakes that biz owners frequently make, and much more. Whereas a consultant is viewed as an expert in your business and will come in to make recommendations and changes. It is more about creating immediate solutions rather than learning to work in such a way that solutions come to you through best practices. A consultant generally comes and goes, whereas a coach remains in the picture as long as the relationship benefits you. If a consultant is deemed necessary, coaching will coincide with that process. good luck!
