What is Buffer Management?
By using frequent and regular (ideally daily) updates of “time to complete” active tasks, the buffers and their rate or level of consumption turn into good indicators that something might be amiss. Buffer Management is the tracking and assessment of the consumption and replenishment of buffers during project execution. Its purpose is to provide a simple, easy to understand view of project health against original promises and provide guidance on when — and when not to — develop and apply corrective actions to the project effort.
