Sky’s business is built on pay-TV so it was a surprise when it joined the free-to-air bid from the BBC for these licences. It will offer three not very compelling channels for the line-up. Sky is also a shareholder in the services company that has been set up to manage and promote the platform. Is it worth getting if I already have cable or satellite television? Not for your main TV set. You’ll get almost all the channels on offer on the new DTT anyway with cable or satellite. If you have second and third TV sets in your house, it may prove cheaper to put these on DTT rather than get second or third subscriptions.
