What is Britt Reids reason for becoming The Green Hornet?
No tragic origin for the Green Hornet. Here’s the short version. Britt Reid is a direct descendant of the original Lone Ranger, the costumed hero of the Wild West. His ancestors carried on as the Lone Ranger until the end of the 1800’s, when the Ranger persona was retired. In the 1930’s, Reid became a reporter and was run off the road while trying to investigate the mob. The experience made Reid think there needed to be a force for justice in the world. A portrait of Reid’s ancestor as the Lone Ranger motivated him to follow in his footsteps and become a costumed crimefighter. He chose a green hornet, because Reid had seen one while in Africa. Unlike a bee, a hornet can sting many times, so it can inflict a lot of pain. Green hornets are the most agressive kind.
