What is Bright Futures; What is the Bright Futures Health Promotion Workgroup; How is Pediatrics in Practice related to Bright Futures?
Bright Futures is a heath promotion/illness prevention initiative whose mission is “to promote and improve the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, families, and communities” through the development of educational materials for health professionals and families. A Bright Futures Health Promotion Workgroup, composed of pediatricians, educators, parents, and nurses, was formed in 1998 with the charge of developing a health promotion curriculum that addresses the key skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for child health professionals to have in order to integrate Bright Futures’ tenets into daily practice. The Pediatrics in Practice Health Promotion Curriculum is the result of the Workgroup’s efforts.
