What Is Breast Mastopexy (Breast Lift)?
The breast mastopexy or breast lift plastic surgery is an operation that is very similar to the breast reduction surgery. There is a repositioning of the nipple and the areolar above the breast crease (inframammary fold), and reshaping of the breast without the large removal of the breast tissue. It is often referred to as the changing of the skin envelope, without the significant change in contents of the envelope. The result is a nicer aesthetic result, and a firmer, younger-looking breast. Indications for the Mastopexy: The typical breast lift patient has sagging breasts, with the nipple below the breast crease. The operation repositions this nipple in its proper anatomical position. Most patients for mastopexy are in their thirties and forties. This operation is one way of reversing after pregnancy and childbirth changes that are common in the breast.
