What is braking/spin set up of old twin tub washing machines (maytag)?

0

Recently, I bought an old maytag twin tub washing machine. I believe it to be from the 70s. It is a model A50, series 01, and serial number 27925 AG. The model washes fine so I know that the motor is in good working condition. However, the washing machine was abused in shipping and after the first 2 or 3 washings the spin and drain function stopped working. They are bothed tied to the same switch so I believe it has something to do with that whole mechanism. I have taken the machine apart and have noted that the swing arm that acts as the brake does not swing back to the braking device. I would guess there is a piece missing, but am still baffled as to why it would not at least begin spinning/draining. If I could get some advice or at least a diagram, I think I could better figure out how to fix the device. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.
