What is brain based learning or “accelerated” learning?
It gives new life to the learning process. It’s fun and very motivating- you want to keep learning more. The essence of brain based learning is that learning becomes a relaxed, enjoyable experience in which tension disappears and in which the whole brain is united during the learning process. Both the teacher and the learner relax and enjoy the process. Tensions typically associated with traditional classes are removed. In the “accelerated” format the learner actually puts forth less conscious effort into learning and retention is improved. Some researchers have found as much as a 300% improvement in the speed and effectiveness of learning when accelerated techniques. Elements of accelerated learning include using specific memory strategies, visualization and suggestion techniques and environmental peripherals to elicit improved learning. Accelerated does not mean less work or expectations but instead improved learning.
