What is Bovine Viral Diarrhea or BVD?
BVD is a contagious viral disease of cattle and other ruminants. The virus is shed in the feces and nasopharyngeal secretions. Fecal contamination of feed and water sources is probably an important means of spreading the infection, with the oral route being the most probable route of entry. There is a wide range of clincal responses to BVD virus due to differing strains, susceptibility of animals, concurrent infections, stress conditions and management factors.
