What is bonding?
Bonding is the application of tooth coloured filling material to the teeth. Bonding is usually done to improve the appearance of the teeth. Most commonly we use this to fill in the gaps between teeth, improve the colour of teeth or to create the illusion that the teeth are Hollywood straight. Sometimes bonding is done in conjunction with the repair of tooth chipping and the treatment of decay. At other times, it is done for strictly cosmetic reasons. Often, if bonding is done for cosmetic reasons, no freezing is required. Many times, if a patient is interested in having bonding done, we bring him or her in for a bonding demonstration. At no cost and with no freezing, I will take some of the tooth coloured filling material and apply it to the teeth without actually bonding it. This gives the patient a chance to determine in advance what would look best without generating any cost. It also avoids the possibility that the patient will not be happy with the final result. If you have chips, cracks or gaps in your teeth, a simple procedure called bonding may improve your smile. Bonding is the general term describing several procedures that use tooth-colored materials to correct tooth defects. Each of these techniques involves attaching a plastic or porcelain-like material to the tooth surface. Bonding is popular because it’s natural looking and cost effective. Bonding is often used to close gaps, repair chips and some cracks, protect exposed tooth roots, and restore decayed teeth. Because bonding material is not as strong as natural tooth enamel, extra care is needed to maintain bonded teeth. Avoid foods and drinks that stain or are highly acidic such as coffee, tea or even some fruit juices.
Bonding is a tooth-colored composite resin. When you have cracked teeth or exposed areas on the enamel, Dr. Tadrissi places bonding on the surface of your tooth and then shapes, smoothes, and polishes the material to blend in with the rest of the tooth. Bonding is quick and inexpensive, so sometimes it’s used to fill cavities, mask imperfections, such as discoloration, or change the size of your teeth. There are times when Dr. Tadrissi may recommend bonding as an alternative to seating a porcelain veneer. Although bonding is quicker and less expensive than veneers, it is not as durable or long-lasting. If you want to know more about bonding, you can read about it at the Las Vegas Institute’s website. You can also learn more about bonding during your appointment with Dr. Tadrissi.
Sugar gliders love people. They crave attention, interaction, and play — especially hide-and-seek. As the pet-owner spends more time talking to the glider, the glider gets to know its owner’s voice. And as the owner spends more time playing with the glider and petting the glider, the glider becomes accustomed to the owner’s scent. The owner should hold the glider gently and securly, and on a regular basis. Bonding pouches (like the Zip-and-Go) are a great way to provide a safe atmosphere for the glider, while providing an easy way to effectively interact with its owner during the day. In time, the two have bonded, and the glider will eagerly anticipate spending more time with its human. A bonded glider will leap onto its owner’s arm, sit on the owner’s shoulder, and enthusiastically play with the owner.
