1/2 an inch is acceptable. Make sure the blades are all at the same pitch before checking the tracking. When rotating, the tip of each propeller blade moves in a circle. This circle defines a plane of rotation. If each blade were tracking perfectly, the planes traced by the blade tips would be parallel. Due to several factors, the planes of rotation may not be parallel.
