What is Blackboard?
Blackboard™ is an Internet educational delivery platform that provides students with an online learning community. Students are able to download course content (including: articles, streaming audio and video, and presentations) and interact with their professors and classmates through the discussion board (similar to Internet news groups) and the chat / virtual classroom (similar to online chat rooms). Blackboard is a course management system which is used by instructors for many UCR Extension courses. This includes face to face and hybrid format courses as well as courses offered online. How instructors use Blackboard varies from course to course, but you may find announcements, the course syllabus and other handouts, links to readings or other resources, and class discussions in the Blackboard course area. Your instructor should provide information on how Blackboard will be used at your first class meeting.
Blackboard is an web-based course management system used by many MATC instructors. It usually contains the class syllabus, required reading materials, instructor contact information, assignment schedule, and other pertinent information. It may also include discussion threads, assignments, quizzes, course materials, links to library resources, and other class activities.
