What is BitTorrent, edonkey, and magnet?
I am now providing some alternative download facilities to help broaden the choices you have of where to get the files I distribute. Here is a short summary of what each of the three methods shown above represent. • BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer distribution system where downloaders of a file help to distribute the parts they already have to other downloaders. I suggest the μTorrent client for Windows users, Transmission for Mac and Linux users, and Azureus for everyone else. • edonkey2000 (ed2k) and its younger sibling Overnet are popular peer-to-peer file sharing networks. I suggest the free eMule edonkey client. • Magnet links are a way for users of certain peer-to-peer networks like Limewire, Shareaza, and Gnutella, to easily fetch particular files.
