What is Birth Hypoxia/ Asphexia?
Birth Hypoxia or Birth Asphyxia are two common terms relating to the lack of oxygen a baby receives before, during, or after his or her birth. Typically, this results when a baby has their oxygen or blood supply restricted or cut off completely. If the problem is not attended to in a timely manner, permanent brain damage or death can occur. The lack of oxygen at birth can generally be diverted with efficient professional neonatal and obstetric care.
