View larger photo Bike trials is the sport of riding your bicycle on anything – rocks, logs, stairs, picnic tables, cars… Some call it ballet on bikes, as riders appear to dance and leap their bikes from one obstacle to the next. What experienced trials riders can do may seem impossible, but anyone who takes the time to practice can learn the basics of trials. Every trials rider started off having difficulty getting up the smallest curb. Smaller moves build up to larger ones after lots of practice. What can be learned from practicing trials can make all forms of riding more fun… It’s a sport of skill and analysis – figuring out how you can get your body and bike to do what you want them to do, and then getting them to do it. For riders who want their trials skills tested and challenged, there are bike trials competitions. In a competition, riders ride short obstacle courses with ribbon boundaries.
