What is Bigorexia – Muscle Dysmorphia?
Muscle Dysmorphia – Bigorexia is, again, one of those different eating disorders that isn’t officially listed in the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). But just because it is not listed in the DSM, doesn’t make it any less of an eating disorder. The deal with this disorder is, like with the other eating disorders, you have an unrealistic view of your body. People suffering from this disorder believe they are skinny or scrawny. In an effort to bulk themselves up, they may workout religiously, to the point of obsession, or they may take steroids. This disorder generally appears in men. You may notice they constantly look at themselves in the mirror, obsess about particular body parts (that are too small in their mind) and do other odd behaviors.
