Big 4 firms are: Pricewaterhouse Coopers Deloitte & Touche Ernst & Young KPMG For years they were known as the Big 8 but mergers and the dissolution of Arthur Anderson resulted in only 4 remaining. They are many times larger than the “second tier” which consists of mostly national and regional firms such as BDO Seidman, RSM McGladrey and Grant Thornton The big four remain the same although their order changes sometimes. The second tier is constantly changing due to mergers and acquisitions. A Yahoo search may be helpful in determining additional second tier firms, but the big 4 are set in stone.
