What is better for golf Irons Graphite or Steel shaft?

I actually just spoke with a pro at my local course about this. He told me that basically he would never recommend graphite to anyone unless they were very young or pretty old. His reasoning was that a graphite shaft is lighter and therefore will increase your swing speed a few mph. Although this sounds like a good thing, as it will result it longer distance, you lose the control that a steel shaft provides. He also said to think about what you are doing with your irons vs. your woods. Irons are more for precision where as woods are for distance. Ultimately you will probably have more fun with steel shafts and the consistency that comes along with them.
