What Is Better: ACCA or CIMA???
As far as quality, difficulty and reputation go, there’s little difference between the two; it’s hard to say which one’s ‘better’ in those terms. I think you’re better off basing your decision on how the practical implications of choosing one qualification or the other are relevant to your specific circumstances. The most important issue is probably; 1) What kind of accounting job are you interested in? As an ACMA (CIMA qualified accountant), your work would largely to be restricted to industry i.e. organisations other than accounting firms (public practice). It’s a bit more complicated with ACCA; ACCA’s are allowed to pick areas of specialism (i.e. any two of the following; auditing, taxation, performance management and corporate finance). It follows that while many ACCA’s, if appropriatly specialised, can carry out certain legally restricted work in public practice (auditing, tax, investment business and insolvency work can only be carried out by individuals permitted to do so by law
