What is best and/or fastest way to label clothing, socks, underwear for person in a nursing home?
…both kids going to camp and school, and for folks in residential institutional treatment (ie. as in being placed in a psychiatric hospital), I have lots of experience in this. The most legible way is to buy the custom iron-on labels. However, I find they don’t always stick well to some fabrics and you have to go through the whole business of getting out the iron. In addition, if not placed carefully, these labels can make the wearer itch. So what I consider the best way as well as the fastest is to use a permanent black magic marker and write the name both on the waist bands and neck bands, but also on the existing brand labels. Sometimes the permanent ink lasts longer on the label fabric than on the garment fabric. In addition, folks often check the label when they find a lost bit of clothing so having an id right there often makes it easier to keep a wardrobe together.
