What is BES and MDS?
A. BES stands for BlackBerry Enterprise Server, which is BlackBerry’s secure corporate email solution. A BES server with a Mobile Data Service (MDS) extension also serves as an entry point of wireless traffic into the wired world. You can buy a BES server from Research In Motion (the manufacturer of BlackBerry devices). It is designed to be deployed behind a company firewall, next to the email solution (Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Sametime). WorldMate Live is designed to work on handsets synchronized with a BES server.
