What is benalmadana like in costa del sol?
Benalmadena is famous for being one of those old fashioned fishing villages. That’s how it describes itself anyway, but I’d say the last time it resembled anything like that was about 40 years ago. It has modernised over the years and is quite a pleasant destination but some might not like its British influences (especially those looking for a bit of traditional Spanish culture). If you fall into this category, it’s well worth hiring a car. I did just that last August. I got a good deal on Alicante car hire from http://www.arguscarhire.com/ and I was able to explore a range of interesting sights all over the Costa Del Sol.
Benalmadena is split into halves, you have the costa which is naturally the coast, beaches, hotels, sidewalks, Castillo Bil-Bil, Famous Casino, Marina, Selwo aquariam, and not forgetting Las Palomas park, which is very nice full of birds, and is very clean with two nice bars in. You then have Arroyo de la Miel, smack in the center of all things, full of bars/restaurants/shops/Carrefour,/Mercad… markets, its own fruit/veg market is on Fridays in the Tivoli world car park, Tivoli is a huge entertainment park, with rides, bars/restaurants, loads of parking. Benlamadena Pueblo, (village) is situated higher up the mountain from Arroyo, and olde world village very quiet, with impressive views from the church right down the coast to Fuengirola, amny nice shops selling leather goods and a new diamond center, where you can look till your eyes pop. Hope this helps you, from along standing resident of Arroyo, enjoy your trip. PS in Arroyo this morning it was 38 degs.
