What is belly dancing and what country did it come from?
Belly dancing is an art form of dance in which not only is the belly used in movement, but the entire body. There is much debate on its origin. Many say it began in Egypt. Others believe Turkey, Greece, or Lebanon. Although the specific country is not known, it is true that it started in the Middle East. Belly Dance is generally referred to as Middle Eastern Dance. In those countries, women danced for and with other women to celebrate events. Women taught their daughters the dance in hopes of helping the childbirth process due to the nature of the movements and muscle control.
