What is Beirut?
Beirut, also known as “beer pong”, is one of the most well known social games among college students and bar patrons across the country. The game is played by two teams of two who take their places on opposing sides of a Beirut table. Each team has a set of ten cups, partially filled with a beverage, arranged in a triangle on the table in front of them. Each team takes turns tossing ping-pong balls with the goal of making the ball into their opponents’ cups. If a player successfully makes a cup then that cup must be removed. A team is declared the winner once all of their opponents’ cups are eliminated. Specific rules for Beirut vary depending on location and are commonly called “house rules”. Beirut players love the game due to its competitive nature, witty trash talking, and team camaraderie.
