What is being done to the park in the light of the 2006 Draft Plan of Management and Masterplan?

Council has prepared a comprehensive Tree Management Plan as part of its Draft Plan of Management and Masterplan to establish a vision for Hyde Park and to ensure its long term sustainability for future generations. In preparing the Tree Management Plan, a comprehensive assessment of all the trees in the Park has been undertaken by Council’s Tree Management Team. Following on from this, further arboricultural assessments were carried out on 145 of the trees by independent arborists and other specialists, such as soil scientists and plant pathologists. No action needs to be taken immediately (unless a tree is found to have become unsafe). It is important to stress that the public will have an opportunity to comment on the 2006 Draft Plan of Management and Masterplan during the prescribed Public Exhibition period.
