What is being done along West Middle Street (PA Route 116)?
Currently, West Middle Street is being closed block by block to install new water and sewer lines. If the project remains on schedule, it should be completed by June 7, 2011. Beginning on July 7, West Middle Street will be closed to all traffic for a complete rebuild of the road, curbs and ADA ramps. This project will be completed within 56 days. Three intersections will remain open for cross traffic during this closure. Those intersections include Washington Street, West Street and Confederate Avenue. In spring 2012, the first block of West Middle Street from Baltimore to Washington Street will have sidewalks rebuilt.
