What is being an electrician like? I am interesting in becoming one?
Electricians have many different jobs. My dad was a journeyman electrician for many years. He put the wiring in factories, schools, and businesses. When he was younger, he wired housing tracts, but it was very hard work. Any electrician who does wiring must do a lot of climbing up and down ladders, and must be strong to pull the wire through the conduit pipes. My dad also worked other types of electrician jobs. He wound motors, which I think would be very boring. For a while he had his own company and did wiring work for homeowners and small businesses. I wasn’t born then, but I don’t think he was very successful, as people sometimes didn’t pay him for his work. He also worked for a lumber yard/hardware store for awhile, doing electrical work for them. Most electricians need to take 2 years of college to become an electrician. There is a lot of math to learn, and terms such as ohms, volts, watts, ac, dc, etc. Check with your local IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers)
