I thought that I had made it clear that it seemed to me that it took the Brits a long time to take Basra. It seemed to me that the writer of this article thought it took a while before the British decided to let the Iraqis know that they meant business. I do think that the British soldiers and commanders are plenty brave, well equipped, and well trained enough so that they could have got the job done quicker, if the powers that be, both American and British, had wanted them to take it quicker. I have not cast aspersions on the British troops. I do appreciate all their help. No one else in the whole world did nearly as much to help us as the British and for that we Americans should be very grateful and I am very grateful. I am also very grateful to the Australians for their help. I also like the Irish and am particularly fond of happy gals.
