BASF expressly rejects the general ban on nanotechnology research demanded by various non-governmental organizations. The successful development of nanotechnology into innovative products offers many opportunities for BASF, the environment, and society that we want to use in a responsible way. This ranges, for example, from an improvement in quality of life to a more efficient use of energy and raw materials. From a global perspective, Germany still holds a leading position in the field of nanotechnology research. For us to be able to safeguard and expand upon this position further research activities will not only have to be possible; they will have to be intensified.
