What is Barnyard?
Barnyard tells the story of farm animals that have an alternative lifestyle – literally. Like the movie, Chicken Run, these animals suddenly take on human characteristics when humans are out of view. Unlike Chicken Run, these animals don’t want to escape though. They are content and happy living a wild and wooly lifestyle including partying in the barn to all hours when the farmer is asleep. The basic plot of the story revolves about a bull named Ben who is the head of the Barnyard. Ben manages the barnyard animals in reminding them of what type of behavior they should display as well as serving as the chief protector of the barnyard. He attempts to teach his son, Otis, how to become the leader of the barnyard clan. Like Mufasa of the Lion King his wisdom is infallible, but unlike Simba his son, Otis doesn’t appear to take anything seriously at all concerning becoming the future leader of the barnyard.
