What is Barefoot Shiatsu?
Barefoot Shiatsu is a form of Acupressure, its roots are in Eastern Medicine. Sessions take place on a mat with the recipient in loose, comfortable clothing, without shoes, though perhaps socks. Working with her bare feet on the recipient, by rocking and leaning, the practitioner promotes a deep sense of nurturance and healing. In an upright posture, the practitioner is an efficient conductor of universal energy, or chi. Hands are used for smaller, more specific work and for work that simply requires opposable thumbs. Lying down and submitting to gravity in a deep state of relaxation, the recipient is fully engaged with the earth. This relaxation enables desired changes and healing to take place.
