What is bareboat chartering?
There are essentially three types of boat charter, or options for sailing:
Bareboat: As the above poster mentions, bareboat charters are those in which you plan to captain your own ship. This is essentially a sailboat rental, or yacht hire with no crew, and is reserved for those with sailing experience (check requirements for each destination).
Flotilla Charter: For this option you will be sailing with a group, or flotilla of boats. This is great for less-experienced sailors, as you’ll have help with charting a course, mooring, weather conditions, etc. It’s also fun!
Skippered Charter: Here you’ll have a skipper and possibly crew members as well to take care of all of your needs.
Each option certainly has its benefits and drawbacks- it all depends on your preferences and level of skill. For more information and the best prices, please visit http://www.latesail.com. Our experts will be happy to assist you.
You ‘bareboat’ charter when you rent (sailors say ‘charter’) a sailboat without a hired captain or crew. Bareboat charterers are expected to provide their own crew and to have the skills to manage the boat they charter. The standard equipment on all of our yachts includes: All United States Coast Guard required equipment, all galley equipment (including pots, pans, dishes & flatware), barbeque, charts and navigation tools, VHF radio, type I life jackets, compass, depthsounder, knotmeter, bow and stern pulpits and lifelines.
