What is bandwidth and how is it measured?

Bandwidth is the amount of data that is transferred to/from your website. Each time the viewer view your website, the is a small amount of data that is downloaded from your web site (pictures, text, logos etc) to the viewer’s computer. If your bandwidth limit is 15GB/month, that means all the data transferred from your website within a month must be less than or equal 15GB (1.5GB = 1.5 x 1024MB = 15,360MB = 1.5 x 1024 x 1024KB = 15,728,640 KB). A typical size of one page of a website is about 22KB. This amount includes the text, images such as logos, pictures. With that said, if one user accesses one page of your website it will cost you about 30KB. With this calculation, you could recieve 524,288 vistors to that one page in a given month. The numbers given are only for example. Your website may be more or less depending on the number of pictures, flash movies, logos and text.
