What is Backroads guarantee policy?
A. Backroads guarantees the departure of every trip with confirmed guests, other than trips defined as Special Departures*. Exceptions to our policy will only be in cases of force majeure and on trips with fewer than four guests, in which case all payments received to date will be refunded, which constitutes full settlement. Backroads is not responsible for expenses incurred in preparation for any canceled trips, such as airline tickets, or for costs incurred due to travel days, flight cancellations or illness. *Special Departures are as follows: Private Trips, holiday trips, boat-based trips (Dalmatian Coast, Turkey, Ecuador/Galápagos), China, India, Patagonia, South Africa, Vietnam and others noted by your Trip Consultant prior to reservation. Backroads cannot guarantee the size or make-up of your group. Once your trip is guaranteed, the cancellation policy applies.

Backroads trips are guaranteed to run once 5 or more guests book* excepting only in cases of force majeure or the failure of third parties—such as hotels or campgrounds—to honor their reservations, in which case all payments received to date will be refunded, which constitutes full settlement. Backroads is not responsible for expenses that are incurred in preparation for any canceled trips, such as airline tickets, or for costs that are incurred due to travel delays, flight cancellations or illness. * Guarantee policy does not apply to Special Departures.
