What is Bacitracin/polymyxin B Used For?
Bacitracin/polymyxin B is used to treat eye infections. How To Use Bacitracin/polymyxin B For best effects, Bacitracin/polymyxin B must be used as directed. Continue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping Bacitracin/polymyxin B too soon may not clear the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection. Apply eye ointment to the affected eye(s) as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch your eye. Rolling the ointment tube in your hands for a minute will make the ointment flow easier. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeezing the tube gently. Close the eye and roll the eyeball in all directions to spread the medication. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye.
