What is BAC? What Types of Tests Are Administered To Determine It?
BAC or blood alcohol concentration is the level of alcohol in the bloodstream from drinking alcoholic beverages. The BAC can be determined by a blood, breathalyzer, or urine test. At a traffic stop, a police officer may ask you to comply with a preliminary breath test (PBT) or field sobriety tests. These are indicators of intoxication, but do not determine BAC. The evidentiary chemical test (blood, breathe, or urine) will be administered at the police station, only after one is placed under arrest and transported there.
