What is AYSO anyway?
AYSO is a national organization with more than 600,000 children playing soccer. The AYSO mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on our philosophies: • Open Registration • Balanced Teams • Positive Coaching • Everyone Plays • Good Sportsmanship Why does every family have to volunteer? AYSO is a volunteer organization. That means that no one at the local level gets paid to make this program work for all of our children. It is simply not fair for others to do the work, while someone whose child is also benefiting does nothing towards contributing to the whole program. Organization within a team, bringing snacks for the team, etc., are nice and important but do nothing to make the program, as a whole, work. Without sufficient coaches and referees, we cannot provide a quality program for every child who wants to play.
