What is Avatar Day?
16 minutes of 3-D footage will be screened on IMAX screens around the world, and the film’s trailer will be shown in theatres everywhere as well. In the U.S., on select digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D screens, the footage will be screened at two evening shows around the country, on the night of August 21. And for all you movie poster fans out there, Avatar 3D lenticular posters will debut in theatre lobbies everywhere. Score bonus! What footage will be screened? Word ’round the campfire is that most but not all of the 16 minutes screened will be from what Cameron unveiled at Comic-Con. Expect to see floating mountains, Na’vis in action and an epic scope that makes Titanic look like your high school’s morning announcements.
