The U.S. Post Office offers automation discounts if the mailings have appropriate barcodes and meet the additional physical requirements. These requirements are that the mail is the right size, shape and made of correct material for transporting through automation equipment. Requirements: • Letter-Size Mail – must have a qualifying barcode placed in specific places on the envelopes. • The mail must have specific markings on the envelopes, i.e., “PRESORTED,” or “AUTO.” • Must have a minimum of 200 or more pieces.
