What is AutoComplete?
AutoComplete is a feature of a browser in which the user is provided with the options he has previously used. The AutoComplete feature gives suggestions for possible matches as a user types in. This feature can be enabled or disabled only by the user. It cannot be enabled or disabled by the author of the Web site. The options suggested by the AutoComplete feature can either be used or ignored by the user.
AutoComplete is a feature of certian web browsers that will store information that a user types into web page forms on the computer’s hard drive. When you begin filling in another form, the browser then suggests possible answers as you are typing. The goal of AutoComplete is to save the user time when filling in forms by suggesting answers that have been used in the past. When the user starts typing in their answer a selection list will appear below the form field of matching answers that have been used in the past. The user can then choose the correct answer instead of typing the whole word.

AutoComplete is a feature that stores a list of everything you type in web pages (for example your name, e-mail address, credit card information, keywords you enter in search engines, etc). AutoComplete helps the user complete the form by suggesting possible matches – you can simply press the down arrow key and select the text without finishing typing. So anyone who has access to your computer can see a drop down list with information you’ve typed.
Autocomplete feature is introduced by Microsoft in their web browser Internet Explorer (IE) since IE version 5. In the earlier version, it was limited to the auto completion of web addresses that you type in the browser’s address bar. The later versions of IE included autocomplete support for various form elements including email addresses and passwords. If enabled, autocomplete feature lists possible matches for the entries you have typed before in the web based forms.
