What is Auto Bid?
(top) The AutoBid feature allows you to set the maximum amount you are willing to bid on an auction, and will place bids for you-sort of like an auction autopilot. This way you don’t have to be online every hour to stay competitive in an auction. At the same time, you can set AutoBid to “top out” at a certain amount, giving you total control of the minimum or maximum you are willing to pay for a vehicle.
One feature available when placing a bid is to check the “auto bid” checkbox. By doing this you will be asked to submit a maximum bid amount. The maximum bid amount is not displayed to other bidders. If you submit an auto bid the auction site will automatically update the item you are bidding on by minimum bid increments anytime someone places a bid which is higher than your original bid. This process will continue until your maximum bid amount is reached. For example, an item is listed for $2000, the minimum bid increments are $100 and your maximum bid amount is $3000. If another bidder submits a bid for $2400, the system will automatically submit a bid on your behalf for $2500. This allows you to outbid others without having to constantly watch the auction. If the next bid amount becomes $3100 and someone else places a bid for this amount, the system will NOT place another auto bid on your behalf as this is above your maximum bid amount.
