What is ATM and why is it required for running ISM under Windows?

Ans.: ISM comes with 2 types of fonts a. True Type Fonts. Windows supports True Type fonts by default. b. Type-1 Fonts. ISM also supports PostScript Type-1 fonts. These are outline fonts, which can be scaled to any size for any aspect ratio and resolution. These are not supported by Windows OS by default, for this an additional manager is required. ATM (Adobe Type Manager) is basically a font manager, which generates bitmap fonts, on the fly, for Windows for different bitmap devices such as screen, dot matrix and HP LaserJet compatible printers. ISM Installer will not install Type 1 fonts unless ATM is installed for windows. Note: Please note that if you are interested in only TrueType fonts, then ATM is not required.
