What is ASSA ABLOY’s position regarding open and competitive specifications?
Our team of ASSA ABLOY Specification Consultants believe that meeting the needs and standards of the owner should always take precedence. We never want to take the position of forcing our product lines onto projects through “no substitution” specifications that ignore what the owner has requested or is currently in use as a building standard. However if an owner does want to ensure that a certain product line is maintained, such as a key system, we will include that item as sole sourced. Overall, our goal is to produce specifications that not only meet the owner’s demands for quality and functionality, but also ones that can be competitively bid among a number of qualified distributors.
