What is ASPI anyway?
ASPI is a programming interface (also known as an API) for communicating with devices. ASPI is useful for both SCSI and ATAPI devices, since Windows essentially treats all ATAPI devices as SCSI anyway. The latest versions of Easy CD Creator from Roxio and Plextor Manager from Plextor don’t use aspi anymore, so it usually doesn’t matter if the aspi layer is installed. If the aspi layer is installed, but not properly, then you may need to update it. See the FAQ on updating your ASPI layer. More info on ASPI layers is at the Radified website.
