What is Aspect’s view on social worker’s pay?
We believe social workers have been badly served by the current national pay arrangements. The plethora of local supplements are proof that the national pay structure, and the job evaluation schemes in use, utterly fail to reward social workers for the skills, knowledge and responsibilities that are required. We really don’t understand why it has taken so long to recognise this. Our critique of the current arrangements, especially the job evaluation schemes in use, and our alternative is contained in our evidence to the Task Force (Submission on pay to SOCIAL WORK TASKFORCE) . We were delighted when Community Care magazine subsequently endorsed our approach.
